Cape Northumberland

South Australia’s most southern point equipped with the most magnificent, rugged coastline, will provide you with uninterrupted views of the sun setting. With limestone cliffs and rock formations scattered around the coastline, you will see an abundance of the shorebirds and although not open, Cape Northumberland lighthouse towers over the site. This is the site of the first mainland lighthouse in South Australia built in 1858, and the replacement lighthouse built 1882. The Southern Ocean has been carving impressions for thousands of years where the water meets the mainland.
