Mount Schank

Known as Australia’s youngest volcano, Mount Schank last erupted over 4500 years ago. This site is now a State Heritage Area.

Take the signposted 900 metre walk up to the rim of the volcanic crater for a 360-degree view to the coast and surrounding countryside. A 2km walk around the dormant volcano crater’s rim provides sensational views of Mount Gambier and surrounding areas.
